Better Late than Never

Graduations are rare occasions. Seniors will realize it is a very special celebration when it is finally their turn to march down toward the stage. It is a momentous accomplishment to be honored in front of one’s loved ones, instructors, and classmates. It showcases not only the educational institution’s history and traditions but also the accomplishments of the students. Our recent graduates were denied this opportunity for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

June 26, 2022 – The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina (PLMar) held their commencement exercise since the pandemic began in 2020. Roughly over a thousand students crossed the platform while being applauded by their families. Minimum safety protocols were implemented that contributed to the success of the graduation rites.

Could you briefly describe your activities as you wait for the graduation ceremony?

I devoted most of my time to taking care of my family, particularly my child. I managed an online business while my husband is at work, but after some time, I decided to also look for a job. I keep sending my CV to different companies till I was eventually hired.

What do you enjoy most being back at the workplace?

I was fortunate to land a job in Avocadoria.ph, especially when I learned about the position they were offering. I was doubtful at first because it’s challenging but I am confident that I can handle it. Despite the typical stress at work, one of the reasons I continue to do my job is because of how kind and supportive my colleagues are. *wink*

How has your education aided you in your career?

Finishing school has equipped me with the necessary skills and knowledge to cope with my work. I didn’t realize it at first but it gave me the correct mindset to pursue my dreams.

Which of your school memories is your favorite?

I remember when my classmates and I were cramming to do something, sometimes a lot of things, that were due soon or all at the same time. But everything was worthwhile and definitely rewarding because we were so eager to finish our studies.

Let your dreams be bigger than your fears, your actions louder than your words, and your faith stronger than your feelings.
